This week, Secretly extends its collective congratulations to more than 25 different artists, companies and partners, who earned a total of 29 nominations for the 2024 Libera Awards. For the second year in a row, the Secretly affiliates at Secretly Group (Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, Saddest Factory Records, Secretly Canadian), All Flowers Group(drink sum wtr, Ghostly International), Numero Group, Secretly Publishing and Secretly Distribution received 17 nods, this time encompassing all five of the ceremony's top categories: Record of The Year, Label of The Year, Distributor of The Year, Publisher of The Year and Breakthrough Artist.
Leading the slate is Dead Oceans, with an abundance of recognition for recent records it released by Mitski and Wednesday. As the 2024 Libera Awards' most-nominated artist, Mitski's The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We also produced the fastest-growing, highest-charting single in Secretly Group history, with "My Love Mine All Mine" reaching one billion streams in a matter of months, and landing her in Spotify's Top 75 artists in the world.
Across the rest of this year's Libera Awards — presented by A2IM, and serving as the largest celebration of independent music in the United States — Secretly runs the gamut of genre. Angel Olsen, ANOHNI, Jamila Woods, Julie Byrne, Kari Faux, Khruangbinand Sharon Van Etten are all commended for their continued influence in the worlds of folk, hip-hop, R&B and far beyond. Furthermore, Secretly Distribution applauds its label partners at Asthmatic Kitty, Bayonet, Captured Tracks, Chrysalis, Colemine, Psychic Hotline, Rhymesayers, Single Lock and Western Vinyl, who together amassed 12 additional nods. The 2024 Libera Awards take place on Monday, June 10 at Gotham Hall in New York City, following a year that saw Secretly's influence and presence reach remarkable new heights. From multiple opening slots on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour to a record-setting six weeks spent at #1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50, the independent, international and industry-shaping ecosystem continued to set the precedent for helping artists to consistently realize and surpass their creative dreams. A fresh class of rising stars subverted the indie music canon, some of the alternative zeitgeist's most visionary talents produced monumental successes, and new leaders helped to achieve breakthroughs across an array of music charts and emerging platforms, all driven by the belief that the most important cultural contributions come from artists and small to medium-sized businesses that support them.
