Secretly Earns 19 Nominations for 2021 A2IM Libera Awards, Including Record of the Year, Label of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, Independent Champion, Marketing Genius & Multiple Genre Categories

Jagjaguwar & Secretly Canadian Celebrating 25th Anniversaries in 2021

This week, Secretly congratulates six of its affiliated companies and the dozen groundbreaking artists who have earned a collective 19 nominations for the 2021 A2IM Libera Awards, the largest celebration of independent music in the country. Spanning alternative rock, americana, folk/bluegrass, hip-hop/rap, latin, punk, R&B and more, Secretly received nominations in 15 of a total 30 Libera categories. 

Secretly Group record labels Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian are all up for multiple awards, as is artist collective and Secretly Group partner 37d03d. Among the ceremony’s top nominees is Phoebe Bridgers (Dead Oceans), whose five individual nods include Record of the Year, Best Live/Livestream Act, Best Alternative Rock Record, Marketing Genius and Video of the Year. 

Following a strategic partnership launched with Secretly in 2020, Ghostly International scored a spot on the shortlist for Label of the Year (Medium), an honor previously won by Dead Oceans and Jagjaguwar. Secretly Distribution earned an additional nomination for Independent Champion, and is proud of its label partners Memory Music/Run For Cover, Western Vinyl and Sacred Bones for their respective nominations across rock, classical and Label of the Year (Medium). This year’s announcement marks the third time in a decade that Secretly has exceeded a dozen Libera Awards nominations, and 2021 marks another historic slate of achievements for the international, independent music ecosystem, which also includes The Numero Group, Secretly Publishing and a global network of 140 employees who uphold the belief that the most important cultural contributions come from artists and the small to medium-sized businesses that support them. 
Throughout the year, Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian will also be celebrating their 25th Anniversaries with special initiatives focused on collaboration and community. Jagjaguwar recently kicked off their JAG25 campaign with news of an ongoing four-part series called Jag Quarterly, featuring contributions from Bon Iver, Lonnie Holley, Moses Sumney, Mary Lattimore, Perfume Genius, Ross Gay, Sharon Van Etten and many more. In the coming weeks, Secretly Canadian will begin SC25 by announcing an ambitious goal of charitable action, centered around new music, creative partnerships and a commitment to the future of its physical and spiritual hometown in Bloomington, Indiana.
