Secretly Group Hires Mark Czarra as Managing Director of Radio, North America
|
Secretly Group is proud to announce the hiring of Mark Czarra as their new Managing Director of Radio. Beginning today, October 3rd, Czarra will run the North American radio department from the company's Los Angeles office, overseeing campaigns across the rosters of Secretly Group's four record labels: Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, Saddest Factory Records and Secretly Canadian. He joins Secretly from his previous position at Downtown Records, where he spent 10 years as Senior Vice President and managed multiple label departments, all while achieving numerous chart-topping success stories, implementing long-term artist development strategies, and breaking songs from Chet Faker, Cold War Kids, Houses, Santigold and more at AAA, Alternative and NonComm radio. Prior to Downtown, Czarra also served as Universal Records' VP of Alternative Promotion for five years, and was responsible for all radio promotion and marketing for alternative and rock.
"I couldn't be more excited and honored to join the Secretly team and work with their incredible roster of artists," says Mark Czarra. "Secretly Group's impeccable taste and dedication to artist development is truly inspiring and I can't wait to get started."
In his new role at Secretly Group, Mark Czarra will report to Kraegan Graves, VP of Operations, who adds, "We are thrilled to welcome Mark Czarra and his vision for building upon our radio team's many achievements. Given Mark's proven history of leadership and success in radio, we are excited for our radio team's next chapter, and for what the future holds for the Secretly Group artist roster."
Mark Czarra arrives at Secretly Group following a period of unprecedented radio achievements for the company. Earlier this year, the Secretly radio team led by Bri Aab took Mitski to #1 at AAA radio, a company first. In addition to landing Japanese Breakfast and Sharon Van Etten in the Top 5 on the AAA chart, the team has also seen charting success with Kevin Morby, Faye Webster, Phoebe Bridgers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Khruangbin with Leon Bridges. Last year, six different Secretly artists and singles reached the Top 40 on the Commercial BDS Triple A chart, including Aaron Frazer, Big Red Machine, Durand Jones and The Indications, Japanese Breakfast, Sharon Van Etten & Angel Olsen, and MUNA. Secretly Group also had an artist on the NonComm chart every week of the year and experienced its highest-ever charting song at HotAC (Big Red Machine's "Renegade" feat. Taylor Swift). Czarra looks to build on this success with active campaigns and as the Secretly radio team prepares for its slate of 2023 projects.
