Dallas-raised, country singer-songwriter Shaylen turns lingering smoke into late-night suspicion with her new song, “You Smell Like A Cigarette,” out today (3.20) via Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment. The deeply honest portrait of doubt curls around the pain of love slipping through her fingers as Shaylen tries to look away from the writing on the walls. Produced by Andrew Baylis (Jelly Roll, Sleeping with the Sirens) and written by Conor Matthews (Megan MoroneyGames We Play), Riley Thomas (Austin Snell, Jake Scott) and Michael Whitworth (Florida Georgia Line, Tanner Adell), “You Smell Like A Cigarette” draws listeners in with her poignant and melancholic vulnerability.

“‘You Smell Like a Cigarette’ captures the subtle side of heartbreak—the kind that doesn’t come with proof, just intuition,” said Shaylen. “It’s about that moment when love and self-respect collide, and you have to decide which one you’re going to choose. The song leans into vulnerability, but it ultimately lands in empowerment. It’s for the big-hearted people who gave everything, believed every word, and are finally learning to believe in themselves more.”

With more than 80 million career streams, Shaylen has earned praise for her “strong, wisened confidence” (Billboard), and her new track builds on a series of recent releases, including “All Hat, No Cowboy,” "Jack Gets Me Sober,” "Loneliest Man” and “Daddy Issues,” as well as standout collaborations like her reimagined take on “Lips Of An Angel Pt. II,” with Austin John Winkler and TAELA’s “Watch This (Remix) (feat. Shaylen).”

Currently on the road, Shaylen joins Jay Webb for select dates on his Bury Me with Bourbon Tour, with stops in Indianapolis, Charlotte, Sioux Falls, St. Louis and more. For full tour details, visit: shaylenmusic.com/shows

ABOUT SHAYLEN: Only Shaylen can write herself into a song – because the tenacious singer/songwriter draws inspiration from real life experiences for the songs she sings. Following a decade-long stint pursuing music in LA, Shaylen returned to her home state of Tennessee in 2022 to take a leap of faith into Country music and has since amassed 80+ million streams to date with independent releases “What If I Don’t,” “Been There Before” and “Let Me Let You,” among others. Quickly cementing her status as one to watch, the rising powerhouse vocalist has established herself as one of the most exciting new female artists in the genre as Holler proclaims she mixes the “the chandelier rattling delivery of Kelly Clarkson with the cowgirl-next-door charm of Carly Pearce.” After signing to Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment last year, Shaylen teamed up with labelmate Noah Hicks for “Second Time Around” and released the brutally honest ballad “To Tell You The Truth.” In 2025, she’s continued her winning streak of penning songs ranging from breakup ballads to party anthems, releasing “Daddy Issues,” “Loneliest Man,” “Jack Gets Me Sober,” and “All Hat, No Cowboy." For the latest information and more, visit ShaylenMusic.com
