Shore Fire's guide to AmericanaFest 2018


 

 

If you’re in Nashville for AmericanaFest 2018 next week, don’t miss Shore Fire’s Salute to Americana Party at 3rd & Lindsley on Friday, September 14th from noon to 2 PM — it’ll feature performances by Asleep At The Wheel, Paul Cauthen, Ben Danaher, Amy Helm, Adam Hood, Dawn Landes, Heather Morgan and more. Other Shore Fire artists performing during the week include Rosanne Cash, Margo Price, Alejandro Escovedo, Jackie Greene, Mandolin Orange, Kaia Kater and Dom Flemons — and Cash, Price, Lee Ann Womack and Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real are up for awards Wednesday night. Shore Fire Media's Nashville office presents its first Salute to Americana celebration, featuring Shore Fire artists Adam Hood, Amy Helm, Asleep At The Wheel, Ben Danaher, Dawn Landes, Heather Morgan, Paul Cauthen and more to be announced soon. Doors open at 11 AM with music going from noon to 2 PM at 3rd & Lindsley. This event is sponsored by Royalty Exchange and open to conference registrants and festival wristband holders.

Adam Hood
The Alabama songwriter (Miranda Lambert, Brent Cobb, Anderson East, Lee Ann Womack, Little Big Town) shows off material from his upcoming album during AmericanaFest appearances on ACME Radio and WSMV-TV, along with live sets at Dee’s Lounge, Martin’s BBQ and Shore Fire's Salute to Americana at 3rd & Lindsley. 'Somewhere Between' (October 12th via Southern Songs) mixes the upbeat thrill of roadhouse roots-rock songs with the contemplative, stripped-down sway of country ballads.

Alejandro Escovedo
The Mexican-American punk veteran previews ‘The Crossing’ (September 14th, Yep Roc), a concept album about the American immigrant experience that mirrors his own journey, with a pair of release-week performances: Thursday’s a free, all-ages, in-store at Grimey’s record shop and a 12th & Porter showcase. He also joins Radney Foster and Will Hoge for a timely panel revolving around Woody Guthrie’s “Deportees (Plane Crash at Los Gatos)” and possible parallels experienced by immigrants in modern society.

Amy Helm
Helm and producer Joe Henry pulled from decades of Americana — from Allen Toussaint to the Milk Carton Kids — for Helm’s album 'This Too Shall Light' (September 21st via Yep Roc). She plays the new music and more at WMOT's showcase at The Local, a free Grimes’ in-store performance, a City Winery show and during Shore Fire's Salute to Americana at 3rd & Lindsley.

Asleep At The Wheel
The legendary eight-piece collective have a 48-year history of hard work, and Americana week is no exception. With ‘New Routes,’ a collection of country, jazz, jump blues, rockabilly, Western Swing and folk out September 14th via Thirty Tigers, Asleep At The Wheel appears at The Local, Mercy Lounge, 3rd & Lindsley (for Shore Fire's Salute to Americana), the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Ben Danaher
Texas-born, Nashville-based songwriter draws on the influence of legendary troubadours like Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell and Townes Van Zandt for his just-released 'Still Feel Lucky' (Soundly Music) album and his Thursday night showcases at 3rd & Lindsley with his touring band, including an apperance at Shore Fire's Salute to Americana on Friday.

Price will perform at Wednesday’s Americana Honors & Awards ceremony, where she’s nominated in three categories, including Artist of the Year. Her busy week also includes taking part in Amazon’s "AmericanaFest Today in Music" Panel Tuesday, pairing with Emmylou Harris for MOJO’s “In Conversation” interview and performance at Third Man Records’ Blue Room Friday, then appearing as a special guest at Harris’ “Woofstock” benefit Sunday at Ascend Amphitheater.

Rosanne Cash
The fearless advocate and four-time GRAMMY winner receives the “Spirit of Americana” Free Speech Award during the Americana Honors & Awards Wednesday. (Her father received the inaugural award in that category in 2002.) She'll also perform at the ceremony. On Friday evening, she’ll give an intimate performance at Third Man Records’ iconic Blue Room.
