Today, with a debut episode featuring special guest Jean Grae, Sonos Radio launches its latest audio series, The Almanac of Rap. Hosted by Brooklyn-based rapper and comedian Donwill, known for his work as part of hip-hop group Tanya Morgan, in addition to music he has produced for Showtime's Ziwe, Slate's Slow Burn and Exactly Right's Adulting with Michelle Buteau and Jordan Carlos, the brand new, bi-weekly show is equal parts podcast and playlist. On a quest to answer questions that listeners didn't even know they had, each installment traces a trend and commonality in rap music, examining its origins and impact over time with expert opinions, random theories and a curated mix of songs and soundbites inspired by the topic at hand.

Every episode will welcome at least one guest to contribute commentary, song selections, facts and low-stakes trivia to friendly debates and seriously fun conversation. Upcoming appearances include comedian Wyatt Cenac on soundtracks and Little Brother's Phonte on rap-singers, and for The Almanac of Rap's premiere, out now, Donwill sits down with rapper Jean Grae to discuss their favorite unhinged lyrics, and how those bars inspired them to listen wildly and shock some creativity into their own art.

New episodes of The Almanac of Rap are available every other Tuesday via Sonos Radio's websiteMixcloud, on demand in the Sonos Radio app and Sonos Sound System, Sonos Radio's signature station inviting culture seekers to discover stories behind the music, latest releases from emerging artists, forgotten hits, deep cuts, industry news and exclusive interviews.

Bringing together more than 60,000 broadcast radio stations with over 100 exclusive, original stations and shows, Sonos Radio represents the broadest selection of radio available around the world. The Almanac of Rap marks the latest addition to Sonos Radio's sweeping slate of artist-focused podcasts and thought-provoking programming. Earlier this fall, the platform launched the latest season of Hanif Abdurraqib's Object of Sound, with interviews from Björk, Carly Rae Jepsen and Mavis Staples, as well as America's Dead's deep dive into all things Grateful Dead with Ezra Koenig, Mac DeMarco and Paul Stamets. Other highlights of 2022 include Margo Price's Runaway Horses with Bob Weir, Emmylou Harris and Swamp Dogg, Black is Black with host DJ Lindsey, Carmel Holt's SHEROES Mixtape Memoir featuring guests like Tori Amos and Santigold, plus the return of From The Basement with performances from IDLES, Sons of Kemet and more, and new editions of Radio Hour from Arooj Aftab, Cécile McLorin Salvant and Lykke Li. About Donwill

Donwill is a Brooklyn based rapper who has parlayed his passion for music and writing into a wide array of opportunities. As a member of the rap group Tanya Morgan he has garnered critical acclaim with a string of impressive releases and music featured on Queen Sugar. As a solo act he has produced music for Last Week Tonight with John OliverZIWE, Slate's Slow Burn Podcast and Buzzfeed's Another Round podcast to name a few. Donwill served as the Music Supervisor for Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas on HBO and as a music composer for several other shows.

Donwill has DJ'ed for a host of clients including Brooklyn Bowl, Prospect Park Alliance, 74 Events, Discovery Channel, Etsy, Soul Cycle, HBO, Flocabulary and Google. You can check out a few of his favorite mixes on his Mixcloud Page.

Comedy is something he is passionate about as well, and alongside Wyatt Cenac he plays host to Shouting at the Screen, an interactive event based around Blaxploitation cinema where the duo provides colorful commentary and encourages the crowd to chime in and play drinking games. He is also the DJ for Butterboy with Jo Firestone, Aparna Nancherla and Maeve Higgins, Adulting with Michelle Buteau and Jordan Carlos, Night Train with Wyatt Cenac and Sasheer Zamata Party Time. At these particular shows he does more than simply DJ, he riffs alongside the comedians and brings as much personality to the show as the host does. He becomes a hybrid of what Ed McMahon was to Johnny Carson and what The Roots are to Jimmy Fallon.
