“Soulful, Rocking '70s Throwback” Danielia Cotton Brings “Contagious Fervor That is Near Irresistible” (LA Times) to Hotel Café Sept. 19
Additional West Coast Dates with Michael Franti Set for SeptemberFiery rocker Danielia Cotton, whose new album ‘Rare Child’ has been a major hit with critics since its release this spring, will play a set at Hotel Cafe on September 19. Joined by guitarist Kareem Devlin, Cotton will treat fans to her “blaring, guitar-charged, Southern-rooted rock that links her to Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Black Crowes, Janis Joplin, Aerosmith and the rockier side of Bonnie Raitt” (New York Times).
Cotton will also support Michael Franti and Spearhead on two additional west coast tour dates, September 20 at the Pozo Saloon in Santa Margarita CA, and September 26 at the Paolo Solieri Amphitheater in Santa Fe, NM. These dates are the latest in a summer of notable pairings for Cotton: in June she performed the National Anthem with “Colbert Report” host Stephen Colbert at a benefit for the Partnership for Public Service, and on September 10, she joins Living Colour, The Family Stand, and Earl Greyhound for a “Rock for Change” benefit concert in NYC.
“She’s a belter who can hold back or work her way up to a gospelly blues-rock shout, and in the songs she writes with her band’s brawny guitar riffs, she grapples with the road, salvation, holding on and letting go." -Jon Pareles, New York Times
"She has a big voice - strong, clear and well-rounded - that commands attention for self-penned songs that burn with defiance and self-determination. Cotton… reveals all the soul beneath the strength." -Nick Cristiano, Philadelphia Inquirer
“"Testify," the CD's gospel-infused centerpiece, starts like an old Stephen Stills tune and explodes likes the Black Crowes with more muscle. Cotton will indeed rock your world.” -Jon Bream, Minneapolis Star Tribune
