March 3, 2023 (Los Angeles, CA) - Today multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Steve Aoki releases his new single “Hungry Heart,” alongside Grammy-nominated collaborative project Galantis, and featuring vocals by trailblazing popstar Hayley Kiyoko. Kiyoko penned the exhilarating dance-pop anthem from her own personal experience in a fast-moving romance. After working on the song with Aoki, the two reached out to Galantis to join the collaboration. Combined with Aoki’s iconic sound, Galantis’ catchy beats, and Kiyoko’s vibrant vocals, “Hungry Heart” came together as a trifecta. The music video, conceptualized and directed by Kiyoko, captures an action-packed arcade romance.

“Hungry Heart is a song that captures the desire to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. We all share that hunger inside. For me, that hunger is creating community and bringing people together. I loved collaborating with Galantis and Hayley because they both give so much energy to the track and its message. This is the kind of song that lights a fire in your soul,” Steve Aoki shares.

“I'm so happy to finally be releasing this song with Steve after so many years of us wanting to collaborate. Hayley is such an amazing songwriter and artist, and when she and Steve came with the idea of a collaboration I knew it was a slam dunk. The tune has taken many turns and I've really enjoyed the process of how it's developed. I'm very proud of the result and excited for everyone to hear it!,” Christian Karlsson of Galantis shares.

Hayley adds, “It’s been a dream come true to collaborate with Steve Aoki and Galantis on ‘Hungry Heart!’ I co-wrote this song with Sean Douglas and Joe Janiak about being consumed by an instant romantic connection you can have with someone. The music video was so much fun to direct and create. It’s meant to take you on that rapturous ride you feel at the first undeniable spark of passion. I’m so excited to finally share this song with our fans!”

In 2012, he also founded THE AOKI FOUNDATION to support organizations in brain science and its research. His influential record label Dim Mak, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2021, is known for being a launching pad for the careers of prominent acts like Bloc Party, The Chainsmokers, Bloody Beetroots, The Kills, Zedd and Diplo. Most recently, Aoki created the A0K1VERSE, an NFT membership community, powered by the Passport, that welcomes his fans to both virtual and real-world experiences. ABOUT GALANTIS:

Galantis is a collaborative project led by Christian Karlsson (aka Bloodshy, one-third of Miike Snow) that has received over four billion cumulative worldwide streams, and over one billion video views to date. Pharmacy, Galantis' debut album, topped the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart on the strength of RIAA Gold single “Peanut Butter Jelly” and the 2x Platinum-certified, GRAMMY-nominated smash “Runaway (U & I).” 2017’s The Aviary (featuring Platinum single “No Money”) saw a top 10 debut in 23 countries. The third Galantis album Church features the chart-topping, now RIAA Gold certified single “Faith” with country music icon Dolly Parton featuring Dutch singer-songwriter Mr. Probz. More recently, Galantis teamed up with Little Mix and David Guetta on 2021 RIAA Gold summer smash "Heartbreak Anthem" which debuted at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes charts, secured the #1 spot at UK airplay and Shazam charts, as well as spending thirteen consecutive weeks in the UK Official Chart top 10.

The story of Galantis started back in 2009. Working as Bloodshy, Karlsson’s songwriting collaborations have included Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry and Britney Spears (whose “Toxic” earned a GRAMMY for “Best Dance Recording”). This collaborative nature led to the birth of the Galantis project which had its live debut at 2014’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and has continued on years later as one of dance music's most dynamic and in-demand live performers.
