Before releasing her new album of all original music on September 18th, The ListSusanna Hoffs shares a final preview today with "Bad Case of Loneliness." Reuniting with Rufus Wainwright on vocals – who Hoffs recently dueted with on a cover of The Turtles' "Happy Together" for 2025 film The Roses, directed by her husband, Jay Roach – "Bad Case of Loneliness" was born from a frank confession about how a person can feel even lonelier when they are not alone. Written by Susanna Hoffs with CJ Camerieri and Ryan Lerman, the song is a deeply human reflection on vulnerability and acceptance, backed by an all-star band of pedal steel legend Greg Leisz, as well as Ryan Lerman (guitar), Spencer Zahn (bass), Benny Bock (Udo) and JT Bates (drums).

"My first ever big arena concert was the Bangles back in the 80s and I remember it crystal clear," says Rufus Wainwright. "To be able to sing with Susanna now is such a joy, plus the top of a mythic ladder I started building then as a kid. Thrilling."

Produced by CJ Camerieri (Bon Iver, Paul Simon, yMusic) and Susanna Hoffs, The List is an invitation to Hoffs' most intimate, frank and personal conversations, featuring "a dozen touching and witty songs based on tales from her life as an artist," says the Los Angeles Times. "Yet the music reflects an emotional wisdom that had to be earned through experience…The List was built to showcase Hoffs' rich storytelling." Watch Susanna Hoffs dive deeper into The List in a new interview on CNN's Amanpour

Like all songs on the album, recorded live in Hoffs' Los Angeles home, "Bad Case of Loneliness" and previous singles "This Island" and "Casablanca" began by an artist and her closest friends gathering around the kitchen table and sharing the stories that define oneself. From heartbreak to an empty nest, a new crush, foolish mistakes and the fading memory of what might have been, it is all part of The List, as Susanna Hoffs turns her deepest, decade-spanning memories into a collection of 12 songs that not only reflect what it has meant to be alive and in love, but turn the page to a new chapter in her astounding artistic legacy.

Recognized the world over as the co-founder of the multi-platinum, chart-topping band The Bangles – who soundtracked an era with anthems like "Manic Monday," "Walk Like an Egyptian," "In Your Room" and "Eternal Flame" – Susanna Hoffs is best known to her inner circle for the stories she tells, who likes nothing more than to jam in her living room with a revolving cast of creative partners. Across The List, she is joined by Rufus WainwrightDan WilsonEdie BrickellGreg LeiszRyan LermanDesureJesse HarrisNy OhGrant MillikenSpencer ZahnLarry Goldings and others, channeling her sense of humor, keen powers of observation and eye for detail into moving statements of love and longing, loss and resilience, loneliness and limbo, reinvention and self-discovery.

Ahead of the album release, Susanna Hoffs and her band – CJ Camerieri, Ryan Lerman, Spencer Zahn, JT Bates – will begin sharing The List's songs and stories on tour throughout the US. Dates include a sold-out, five-night residency at New York City's legendary Café Carlyle, festival appearances, shows with Billy Idol and more listed below and HERE.
