Sweatin,' Shoutin', Stompin' Fill Wood Bros. Live Albums

A Wood Brothers gig is not unlike an old-school revival - there's a whole lot of sweatin', shoutin', stompin', and singin' happening. The rollicking trio and so-called "masters of soulful folk" (Paste), capable of captivating 10,000-seat arenas and 200-cap rock clubs, commit their "gripping" (New York Times) live show to 2-volume set. The first, 'Live, Vol. 1: Sky High,' is out May 8 on Southern Ground Artists, and is available for pre-order now: http://bit.ly/IHwSGK. Volume 2 will be out late summer.

Lush harmonies abound on Vol. 1's cover of the Mississippi John Hurt classic "Pay Day" – listen here via American Songwriter:http://www.americansongwriter.com/2012/04/premiere-wood-brothers-cover-mississippi-john-hurts-pay-day/

Said guitarist and primary vocalist Oliver Wood of the live releases, "We've been playing a lot of these songs for a few years, and we added a drummer, as well, so we wanted to put out some of the old music again in its new, different sound and capture what we've been doing the past couple of years live... it's been great for the fans to hear how all of the music has evolved."

Volume 1 features a number of guest collaborators, including Zac Brown Band's Clay Cook, and seven songs culled from recordings captured during a 20-date U.S. tour, affording the band an opportunity to record more polished versions of several songs that had appeared on previous studio albums.

Among these are the aforementioned New Orleans homage "One More Day;" "Smoke Ring Halo," from last year's album of the same title; and the characteristically soulful "Luckiest Man," the band's most highly-requested song.
This year marks the Brothers' biggest-ever year of touring with nearly 100 dates, including sold out shows already in Chicago, Nashville, San Francisco, and Portland, among others. See full 2012 tour dates here: www.thewoodbros.com/tour/
