Sylvan Esso Recreates 10-Piece Dream Team Ensemble - From Their Most Recent Film/Live Album With - For Colbert’s #Playathome Series 

Sylvan Esso’s WITH - a feature length concert film and 16-track live album that captures the band at a transformative moment on their 2019 tour of the same name - is out now on Loma Vista Recordings. To celebrate the release, the band has shared a special performance of their song “Rewind” via The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s #playathome series. With each of the ten musicians who comprised the WITH touring band contributing individual parts, the performance is scrambled and re-assembled as a glitchy discovery on a long lost VHS tape. Last week Sylvan Esso also made a rare return appearance to NPR’s Tiny Desk for a home concert featuring songs from their “brilliant catalog.” They played “Radio”, “Rewind” and “Die Young” from their living room in front of a tangle of electronics. WITH captures a magical musical communion. In fall 2019, Sylvan Esso put together a 10-piece band of friends - ace musicians who also perform with Bon Iver, Wye Oak, Hiss Golden Messenger, Hand Habits, Mr. Twin Sister, Mountain Man and more - and sold out historic venues like two nights each at the Beacon Theater and Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Ryman Auditorium. The WITH film documents their triumphant sold-out hometown shows at Durham Performing Arts Center, and the two weeks of preparation that preceded them.
