With the release of new single and video "Forever Now," The Avett Brothers have shared the final preview of their first new album in five years. Out May 17th via Ramseur Records/American Recordings/Thirty Tigers, and produced by Rick Rubin, The Avett Brothers is a collection of nine songs that seek the sacred in the commonplace. As much untitled as it is self-titled, the LP is interested in the divine unknowable, ultimately reveling in the fun and surrender of what we cannot understand: "How long is now," they ask in the opening line of the new song available today. "We could stay but we don't know how."
Listen to "Forever Now," and watch the music video, shot and edited by Seth Avett:
"Forever Now" follows lead single and radio hit "Love Of A Girl," as well as the recently released "Country Kid," featuring a music video that finds the band roller skating as a priest, bear, superhero and more. The Avett Brothers recorded The Avett Brothers in Malibu, Nashville, Mar Vista, and the band's hometown of Concord, NC, but earlier this month they performed the new material live for the very first time in Mexico, as they took the stage during their own five-day festival, Avett Brothers At The Beach.
Furthermore, The Avett Brothers will now be giving fans across the country an early experience of the album in its entirety. At a series of just-announced Listening Events on May 15th, local record stores in more than 30 different cities will be playing The Avett Brothers front to back. Free and open to all, attendees will also receive an exclusive poster by Scott Avett, who illustrated all of the artwork for the album, its accompanying booklet and impeccable packaging. See the participating locations HERE.
Shortly after the special album listening events, The Avett Brothers will begin performing even more of the music from The Avett Brothers on an expansive US tour that spans spring, summer and fall. In addition to a headline show at NYC's Forest Hills Stadium on album release day, the nearly 50-date run includes three nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, LA's SoFi Stadium with Luke Combs, and so much more, with support from City and Colour, Sierra Ferrell, Iron & Wine, Little Feat, Dawes, Melissa Etheridge, G. Love & Special Sauce, Trampled by Turtles, Sammy Rae & The Friends, Houndmouth and Jamestown Revival. Find the list of dates below and tickets at theavettbrothers.com/tour.
