The Barr Brothers Reach Out For Catharsis in Evocative New Video from Acclaimed 'Queens of the Breakers' / Out Now
In a small house on the remote coast of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in Quebec, a dancer goes wild – exploring every inch of the space, up, down, around, through rooms and on top of furniture, using uninhibited, improvised movement to reach a devastating emotional climax. This is “You Would Have to Lose Your Mind,” the evocative second video from the Barr Brothers’ latest release ‘Queens of the Breakers’ (out now/Secret City Records).

Contemporary dancer Brittney Canda is the perfect complement to the Barr Brothers’ soaring sound and yearning lyrics. Filmed partially on a Super 8 by frequent Barrs collaborator Vincent René Lortie, the video captures a woman trying to convey what words and even music cannot say.
Says vocalist and guitarist Brad Barr, “This was a fun video to make…[we invited] our friend Brittney to inhabit Vernon Dow's prismatic old farmhouse in the Gaspé Peninsula for 4 days until she went bat-shit crazy... Hats off to Brittney for taking it way further than anyone had anticipated. You can really feel the moment when she capitulates and makes the transformation from sweet girl on vacation to blood-thirsty demogorgon capable of unspeakable things.”
The song “You Would Have to Lose Your Mind” has already racked up over 4 million streams across all platforms. The Barr Brothers started 2018 with a performance on CBS Saturday (their second time appearing on the show). They wrapped 2017 with their biggest run of tour dates yet: a massive European tour with The War On Drugs and a headlining North American tour in which they played their biggest rooms to date, many of which sold out. They’ve also recently done sessions with KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic, World Café, WFUV, KEXP and more, and are currently on another tour in Europe with many sold-out dates.
