The Can't Tells will release their debut record, 'No Television,' October 22 on Medical Records. The Bushwick 3-piece's brash but lyrical songwriting has earned comparisons to Television and Gang of Four, or as the band describes it, "an alternate reality where Elvis Costello was in Mission of Burma and played Spoon songs at twice the speed." They're previewing the album all month with a Tuesday night residency at Pianos in NYC, and you can check out the SPIN premiere single "Drugstore" which they say "oozes a nocturnal swagger, colored with chattering percussion, feverish rhythms, and jittery wordplay" here: http://shorefi.re/14K01xY

All three members--Mike DiSanto, Blaze McKenzie, and Jonathan Smith--contributed to writing the album's ten original tracks and produced the record together. DiSanto and McKenzie, who share lead vocals, trade off between bass and electric guitar, fronting the band with distinctive but complementary energies.

The Can't Tells' live shows are sweaty, frenetic, intense blasts of distorted rock and roll straight to the chest. They play with force and precision nearly to the point of collapse, pausing only briefly to swap instruments and discard broken strings. Hands and drumsticks are a blur on tracks like the hooky "Knives" as they cut an efficient and melodic line straight through their varied influences to a sound uniquely their own.

DiSanto, McKenzie, and Smith came together in Boston, where they bonded while geeking out over microphones and recording gear. They began recording and producing each other's material, and after collectively amassing enough audio equipment to record a small nation, relocated to a Brooklyn apartment where the band was born. They launched their first US tour, played SXSW, and recorded/mixed/produced the album themselves this year. Stay tuned for more news on the record and tour dates.
