Growing up in a South Asian family in America, Patel developed her deep love of cooking from her mom (who she calls the “OG food blogger”), who was always playing a game of “mix and match” in their family kitchen. Patel – now a busy mom of two – learned her mother’s ability to swap spices and ingredients across almost any dish. Her blended culinary upbringing is what encouraged her to start her widely popular The Chutney Life blog and author her debut cookbook. Her goal in writing this book was to offer recipes and techniques that capture the intricacies of Indian cooking and present them in a way that’s accessible, realistic and attainable for any home cooks — and she’s done just that. Recipes like Spaghetti Squash Masala, Crispy Gochujang-Glazed Sweet Potato Tacos, Chana Masala Minestrone & Coconut Curry Noodle Soup, Vegetable Enchiladas with Poblano Cream Sauce, or even The Chutney Life’s Mom’s Dal Fry & Jeera Rice combine exhilarating flavors with the comfort of home cooking.
