The D'Addario Foundation's 'Performance Series' offers virtuosic, emerging classical guitarists from around the globe a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: performing at Carnegie Hall for the first time in their careers. The seventh installment of the series will take place November 6th at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall at 8PM. The concert will feature an evening of music by China's Liying Zhu and Thailand's Ekachai Jearakul. For the first time in the series' history, an additional performance will take place on November 8th at San Francisco's St. Mark's Lutheran Church at 7:30PM featuring Liying Zhu. The D'Addario Foundation is a non-profit organization primarily funded by D'Addario, the world's largest maker of instrument strings and based in Long Island, NY.

Beginning her guitar studies at the age of 11 in China, 25-year-old Liying Zhu has spent much of the last decade establishing herself as one of the top classical guitarists in the world. She has become the toast of central Europe's classical guitar circuit, culminating in a first prize at the 2015 Koblenz Competition, thought to be the most prestigious of its kind in Europe.
Thai sensation Ekachai Jearakul has won twelve of the most well respected guitar festivals in the world and was hand-selected to collaborate with the King of Thailand on his musical endeavors. In the past he has performed with orchestras from the Seoul Philharmonic to the International Orchestra of Italy.
To commemorate the 7th Performance Series, Ekachai Jearakul will be performing a specially commissioned piece by Welsh composer Stephen Goss. Over sixty full albums of Goss compositions have been professionally recorded in the past, and he counts everybody from John Williams to Mick Jagger as supporters. "Sonata for Guitar" will make its debut at the D'Addario Foundation Performance Series event, and Goss will be in the audience as Ekachai performs the work. "I decided to commission a work from Steve because I really like his past work," said Ekachai, "I had a chance to meet him at the Guitar Foundation of America convention this year and I asked him about this. He was really happy to write me a work."
