The Dip release socially conscious single “Advertising”
“Soul charming" - Glide
“Evokes the spirit of classic, big-band soul” - Relix
(New York, NY): Today, Seattle septet The Dip have released their new single, “Advertising,” off their upcoming album, ‘The Dip Delivers’ out February 8th. The song is about the frustration for music, fashion, and culture that is recognized outside of artistic merits. Featuring a fast-paced symphony of electric guitar, drums, horns and raspy vocals by frontman Tom Eddy (Beat Connection), the song hits on the sad reality that advertising is what gains traction while exploring the inescapable power of capitalism.
With help from Seattle soul compatriots Delvon Lamarr and Jimmy James, the song burns through lively organ and guitar solos from the members of the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio as Eddy repeats the chorus, "You can turn anything into a thing, baby." The high energy song finishes with an empty strum of the guitar, Eddy's voice ringing into the abyss: "I wish I had a million dollars to spend."

Known throughout the Pacific Northwest for their electrifying shows, the seven-piece ensemble is grounded by Eddy’s vocals, a driving rhythm section and the impeccably crisp lines of the 3-piece horn section the “Honeynut Horns.” After selling out their first northeast run of shows in 2018, The Dip is making larger debuts like Napa Valley’s BottleRock and Texas’ KAABOO Festivals. The band also sold out their album release show at Neumos in Seattle and added another for their devoted disciples. One of “most exciting and joyous acts to emerge in recent years” (KEXP), The Dip will embark on their 28-date tour on February 15th in support of their new record blending warm, vintage R&B sounds with classic pop storytelling.
