The Iridium Hosts Jose Feliciano, Kevin Eubanks, NRPS, Blues Broads, And More In July
The Iridium has an eclectic lineup of jazz, blues, and rock on tap this summer, with performances by Jose Feliciano, Kevin Eubanks, New Riders of the Purple Sage, the Blues Broads, Kimberly Thompson Quartet, Grandmothers of Invention, and more. See below for highlights:
6/30 – New Riders of the Purple Sage: NRPS began as a spin-off from the Grateful Dead when Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, and Mickey Hart teamed up with John Dawson and David Nelson. Nelson now leads a new incarnation of the band, and they'll return to the Iridium for one night only.
7/1 – Kevin Eubanks w/ The Les Paul Trio: Best known for appearing alongside Jay Leno as the leader of the Tonight Show Band for 15 years, Eubanks has performed on over 100 albums in his remarkable career. His latest release, 'The Messenger,' showcases his broad musical sensibilities, blending jazz, blues, and funk across his original compositions and covers of John Coltrane and Maxwell Middleton.
7/7: Todd Barkan's Keystone Korner Nights Presents Kimberly Thompson Quartet: Kimberly Thompson, who has played drums with everyone from Beyonce and Jay Z to Kenny Barron and Mike Stern, will lead her quartet featuring Eden Ladin on piano, Aaron Burnett on tenor sax, and Nick Woziak on bass for her Iridium debut.
7/9 – Grandmothers of Invention: The Grandmothers of Invention features Zappa alumni Napolean Murphy Brock on vocals, Tom Fowler on bass, and Don Preston on keyboard, joined by guitarist Miroslav Tadic and drummer Christopher Garcia. They've performed the music of Frank Zappa at festivals around the world from Frankfurt Jazz to Winnipeg Folk and nearly everywhere in between.
7/16-17 – Todd Barkan's Keystone Korner Nights Presents Blues Broads: Dorothy Morrison, Tracy Nelson, Annie Sampson and Angela Strehli, all highly regarded vocalists in their own rights, join forces for two nights at The Iridium. The foursome reflects more than two centuries of collective experience in blues, country, gospel and rock, including recordings and performances with everyone from Bonnie Raitt and Willie Nelson to Van Morrison and Elvin Bishop.
7/22 – Jose Feliciano w/ The Les Paul Trio – Virtuoso guitarist Jose Feliciano, who has been awarded over forty-five Gold and Platinum records, won nine Grammy Awards, and taken home the LARAS Award for Lifetime Achievement, will return to The Iridium to sit in with the Les Paul Trio.
