The Vytacil Campus of Art Students League Sold

The Vytlacil Campus was a progressive extension of The League’s educational legacy in the arts. The campus was originally the home and studio of longtime instructor Vaclav Vytlacil (1892–1984). In 2016, The Art Students League engaged in an intensive analysis of its sustainability practices, and with those findings the Board of Control chose to discontinue the Vytlacil Campus Artist-in-Residence program. The League finalized the sale of this property on February 10, 2020. The life and legacy of Vytlacil is being honored in Essentialism, curated by Frank O’Cain, League instructor and former student of the artist. This special exhibition is on view February 4 − April 6 2020 at The Art Students League of New York, 215 West 57th Street.
