Nominated For ‘Duo Of The Year’ At CMA Awards Tomorrow

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18 (NEW YORK, NY) - Last night, GRAMMY, CMA, and ACM Award-nominated duo The War And Treaty performed a breathtaking rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” during Monday Night Football on ABC. Football fans across the country were captivated by the husband and wife duo’s stripped-back, emotionally charged performance, with many being brought to tears. Watch the full performance HERE. 

The War and Treaty’s powerful performance ignited the internet, earning widespread praise across social media. This morning on the TODAY Show, Carson Daly called it one of the “best National Anthem performances” he has ever seen, while Country Living Magazine also hailed it as “one of the best National Anthem performances ever.”

The performance comes just ahead of the CMA Awards where Michael and Tanya Trotter are nominated for “Vocal Duo of the Year” for the third consecutive year.

The War and Treaty have been on the road for their American Soul Revival Tour, which will officially wrap on Friday, November 21 in Grass Valley. The tour saw the duo perform in 15 cities across the country this fall, including Charlotte, NC, Kansas City, MO, Aspen, CO, and Knoxville, TN. Next month, the duo is set to join the legendary Sam Smith for their critically acclaimed To Be Free: New York City residency at Warsaw in Brooklyn. The War and Treaty will join for seven shows, starting November 29 and concluding on December 13.

Earlier this month, they released their stirring rendition of Willie Nelson’s “Whiskey River” out now. Originally recorded during the 2023 Luck Reunion on Willie Nelson’s iconic ranch in Luck, Texas, the track first debuted as a Spotify Single and is now available across all DSPs. Listen HERE.

Since first lighting up the world with their fusion of country and soul, The War And Treaty have steadily built a legacy as one of the most iconic husband-and-wife duos in music history. In the last few years alone, Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter’s phenomenal talent and daring originality have led to major milestones including their 2024 GRAMMY nominations for Best New Artist and Best American Roots Song. In addition to the GRAMMYs, the duo has received nominations from the CMT Music Awards, Americana Honors & Awards, and the People’s Choice Country Awards, and have taken home the Duo/Group of the Year prize at the Americana Music Honors & Awards two years in a row. This year, The War And Treaty earned their third consecutive nominations for ‘Duo of the Year’ from the ACM Awards and ‘Vocal Duo of the Year’ from the CMA Awards.
