TinkerTar, The 1-String Guitar Inspiring Kids To Play Music, Is Available On Amazon And In Target Stores Today 

Monday, August 14, 2023 - TinkerTar, a first-of-its-kind 1-string guitar for kids, created by renowned guitar maker Brian Calhoun, is officially available on Amazon and nationwide in Target stores today. The TinkerTar has a fretless, color-coded fingerboard that corresponds to a songbook sold with the guitar, simplifying the learning process of playing guitar so much so that kids as young as 3 can play melodies and even well-known songs. It retails for $24.99 and comes in seven playful designs, including a pizza, heart, flame, flower, tiger, rainbow, and leopard, offering kids the opportunity to learn an instrument that feels truly unique and reminds them of something they love. 

Brian Calhoun and his TinkerTars will be featured on GMA3 this Friday, August 18th. The TinkerTar has been named one of the “best guitars for kids” by Guitar World, and has been praised by The Toy Insider as “the perfect instrument for beginner musicians.” The TinkerTar has also been featured in Success Magazine, KTLA, and The Toy Book. 

Calhoun is best known for co-creating Rockbridge Guitar, an artisan business crafting high-end acoustic guitars for some of the world's biggest musicians, including Dave Matthews, Brandi Carlile, Warren Haynes, Jason Mraz, Lainey Wilson, and more. Calhoun created TinkerTar as a way to blend two of his life's passions: making guitars and working with kids. 

TinkerTar is the newest product in Calhoun’s growing empire, which includes the innovative and popular board game Chickapig (created alongside long-time collaborator Dave Matthews), which was featured on NPR, People Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and Billboard.   

Calhoun is also the author of two children’s books including Chickapiglet, Who Lives Where, and Little Joe Chickapig, featuring illustrations from Calhoun and Pat Bradley. The story follows Little Joe Chickapig and is a children’s book about hope, inspiration, and following your dreams.
