Appleseed Recordings recruited Tom Morello to help celebrate their 21st year as leaders of the folk protest tradition, and his reimagining of AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds" serves as a fitting continuation of the label's mission - to preserve the music and wisdom keepers of our past while being bearers of truth in the present, and keeping the legacy of roots music alive for future generations. Morello's version of the track, which appears on their 21st anniversary 3-album set 'Roots and Branches' (out Oct 19), updates AC/DC's original lyrics to name check the issues of our time - US foreign policy, "fake news", our prison system and beyond.

Says Appleseed founder Jim Musselman: "Tom is someone I deeply admire for his music and commitment to social justice. The first CD of the 'Roots and Branches' trilogy is called 'Let the Truth Be Told.' Morello exemplifies that with his music. The song hits at the core of so many things our country is dealing with. We as a label have taken stances on so many issues over the 21 years we have been around. We are proud of being on the right side of so many of those issues with our music and our artists."

'Appleseed's 21st Anniversary: Roots and Branches' features other new recordings from Bruce Springsteen, Donovan, Tim Robbins, John Wesley Harding, Tom Russell + more.
