United Palace To Host First 'Open Heart Conversation' With Hindu-Ramakrishna Speaker Swami Shantatmananda

Monthly Series To Celebrate The Diverse Spirituality Of Manhattan And Beyond With Art, Music, Panels + More

In its mission to foster an inclusive cultural and spiritual community, the United Palace has announced its Open Heart Conversation series. A guided space to meet, talk and explore the world's varied and rich spiritual traditions - whether you are a devout follower, agnostic, curious or somewhere in between - each monthly event will be curated by experienced and respected leaders in faith as a way to foster tolerance, respect, and human connection. Open Heart Conversations will be hosted by the United Palace's own Spiritual Counsel, Reverend Dr. Jose M. Roman, and feature various guest speakers, art, music, interactive activities, panels and more.

For their inaugural Open Heart Conversation on May 27th, the United Palace will explore the wisdom of Hinduism-Ramakrishna - one of the largest and most respected religious institutions in India today, based on the teachings of mystic and sage Sri Ramakrishna. Senior Monk of The Ramakrishna Order in India, Swami Shantatmananda, will be joining as special guest. A dedicated spiritual mentor for over 30 years - lecturing everywhere from Hong Kong, Russia and France to South Africa - he is well known in his community for his work in women's empowerment and pioneering the NGO "Sarada Seva Sangha" in Kolkata, a service organization managed by over 100 female volunteers.

Acclaimed vocalist Ambika will also be providing music for the evening, in the form of a special kirtan performance. For more info on Ambika visit: www.ambikachant.com

Other upcoming Open Heart Conversations will be announced soon.

The United Palace is a hub of creative expression and personal growth fusing culture, spirituality, and entertainment. Formerly the Loew's 175th Street Theatre and designed by acclaimed architect Thomas W. Lamb, the United Palace has been a spiritual center since 1969. The nonprofit United Palace of Cultural Arts (UPCA) was established in 2012 to serve as an arts and culture center within the United Palace. The theater is located at 4140 Broadway in Washington Heights.
