Walking Dead's Emily Kinney Wins Over Rolling Stone With "Heartfelt, Emotional Indie Rock," EP Out Today

When 'The Walking Dead's Emily Kinney isn’t fending off zombies in her role as Beth Greene on the hit AMC show, the Nebraska native is crafting her shimmery, indie folk sound. Her 'Expired Love' EP is being rereleased today (Em-K Music / Thirty Tigers) with two new songs, including a cover of Waxahatchee's "Be Good" and a heartfelt new original track, "Dad Says."

Rolling Stone describes Kinney's music as "heartfelt, emotional indie rock," and she's been praised for her "killer vocals" (Metro NY) and "honest style of singing" (Newark Star-Ledger). Her relatable lyrics and "melodic, quirky and confessional pop" sound (Asbury Park Press) have been compared to Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, and Nellie McKay.

Fans of 'The Walking Dead' are familiar with Kinney's talent through her character Beth's frequent singing on the show. But music is not new for her – she performed in the music adaptation of "Spring Awakening" on Broadway in 2008, and released her first album, 'Blue Toothbrush' in 2011. As an actress, Kinney has also been seen in reoccurring roles and guest appearances on television series such as The Following, The Good Wife, The Big C, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order: SVU.
