War Vets Get Lift From O.A.R.

O.A.R., "the grassroots phenomenon" (Boston Globe) and live powerhouse, have announced partnerships with two organizations supporting America's men and women in uniform, the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and Team Red, White & Blue.

The band recently revealed plans to give away 10 tickets to veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan at each of their 18 headlining shows on their upcoming 'Summer Crush Tour 2012' through IAVA's The Rucksack (http://iava.org/blog/iava-teams-oar-their-2012-summer-tour).

Throughout the tour, the band will additionally encourage fans to sign up at shows or online to become a "Team RWB Athlete," in partnership with Team Red, White & Blue. As a Team RWB Athlete, participants will have the opportunity to meet and train with veterans for local runs to help foster relationships and eliminate social isolation.

"I met up with volunteers for Team RWB and got to participate in a run around Lake Michigan, my first community event," O.A.R. drummer Chris Culos said of a Team RWB event. "We got a ton of cheers from people as we ran by with an American flag, which is done to raise awareness and inspire people to action."

In honor of each partnership, O.A.R will begin posting special "Workout Playlists" to its Spotify page, and is encouraging fans, athletes, and veterans to post their favorite workout songs to the band's Facebook and Twitter pages using the hashtag #veteransplaylist . The band will create additional playlists for the campaign from these recommendations in the following weeks.

O.A.R.s 'Summer Crush Tour 2012' includes stops at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Allman Brothers Band's first-ever The Peach Festival, featuring Zac Brown Band, Dark Star Orchestra, and The Wailers. The tour kicks of July 12 in Indianapolis, and also includes a July 13 performance at Cincinnati's Bunbury Music Festival and a July 15 show at Colorado's legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
