William Prince Enlists Tami Neilson For “Flowers on the Dash” Duet

February 20, 2026 – Today, singer-songwriter William Prince shares a special duet version of his song “Flowers on the Dash” featuring country musician Tami Neilson. The song is from Prince’s latest album Further From The Country (Six Shooter Records), his latest record that explores everything from grief to identity with striking clarity. The single arrives just after his new album’s nomination for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year at the 2026 JUNO Awards, where Prince is set to perform on March 29.

Although “Flowers on the Dash” is about an imagined lonely drive home alone after failing to win a former lover back, the song takes on a newfound lighthearted tone with Neilson’s lively, soulful voice. Prince and Neilson end the country tune with a humorous back-and-forth: “All she wants to do is fight / I guess I don’t blame her, she’s got every right,” admits Prince, to which Neilson responds slyly, “Honey, that’s the first right thing you’ve said all night.”

Prince and Neilson first met years ago backstage at Tønder Festival, and their friendship has been steadfast ever since. "Tami is one of the most powerful voices I've ever experienced,” says Prince. “Watching her over the years made her a natural pick for a country duet. She embodies the charisma and charm of this song and I'm honoured we finally get to sing one together."

When Prince sent over “Flowers on the Dash,” Neilson was thrilled to “be the Dolly to his Kenny”: “He sent me ‘Flowers on the Dash’ and I listened to it as I was driving my boys to school, slapping the steering wheel, exclaiming, ‘Now THAT’S some Country Music, kids!’” She added that “from being nominated alongside each other at the JUNOs to eating tacos backstage on Willie Nelson’s ranch, it’s always a joy when our paths cross.”

As a family man and a proud newly-wed, Prince has no shortage of things to be joyful about, and his last album celebrated happiness in all its ever-changing forms. Now, from a place of peace, his newest album Further From The Country reflects on darker times as a way to process the injustices and complexities of today’s world. Raised in a close-knit Indigenous community and shaped by deep musical traditions, the new songs draw on childhood memories — both joyful and difficult — from growing up in Peguis First Nation.

Produced by Liam Duncan (aka Boy Golden), the album was recorded in Winnipeg and features performances from a hometown ensemble including Alyshia-Grace Prince, Cody Iwasiuk, John Mark Baron, Stephen Arundell, Keiran Placatka, Kristopher Ulrich, Austin Parachoniak and more. With “Damn” and “All the Same,” Prince writes with striking clarity and sensitivity, drawing parallels from small town to big city hardships. From the dusty highways of “On Rolls the Wheel” to the poignant family portraits in “For the First Time” and “The Charmer,” the musician’s songwriting proves to be both acutely unique and universally resonant.

Further From the Country follows his previous LP Stand in the Joy, produced by Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile). Prince has performed on CBS Saturday Morning, NPR’s Tiny Desk, and stages ranging from Newport Folk Festival, Stagecoach, and The Grand Ole Opry to opening slots for Neil Young, Willie Nelson, and The War and Treaty, in addition to landing songs in Yellowstone and more. In 2024, Prince was nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year at the Americana Honors & Awards. He’s also a two-time JUNO Award-winning artist, current JUNO Award nominee, and John Prine Songwriter Fellowship winner.
