LOS ANGELES - Today, Rhino releases ‘Woodstock - Back To The Garden: The Definitive 50th Anniversary Archive,’ a 38-disc, 432-track boxed set that paints the most comprehensive picture of Woodstock to date, with nearly every artist performance - plus announcements, stage banter and more - from the festival included in chronological order over more than 36 hours.
Assembled by Grammy-nominated producer and music archivist Andy Zax along with Steve Woolard over a nearly fifteen year span ‘Woodstock - Back To The Garden' boasts 267 previously unreleased audio tracks, totaling nearly 20 hours and "nearly every moment of recorded sound from the festival" (New Yorker). Simply put, the set “has it all” according to Rolling Stone.
Rhino has also announced today that all 1,969 copies of the individually-numbered 38-CD set - which comes in a screen printed plywood box and also includes a Blu-ray copy of the Woodstock film, a replica of the original program, a guitar strap, two Woodstock posters and much more - have completely sold out. Two other versions of the release are still available: ‘Woodstock - Back To The Garden - 50th Anniversary Experience’ features 162 tracks across its 10 CDs and ‘Woodstock – Back To The Garden – 50th Anniversary Collection’ is a 42-track collection available as both a 3-CD and 5-LP set. The 10-CD version is also available for digital download: https://www.rhino.com/woodstock50.
The New Yorker’s Hua Hsu reviewed the full set in this week’s issue, saying “in the process of reconstructing the festival, hour by hour, Zax has destroyed some myths.” Read the full review here: https://bit.ly/2Y9f6d j
