Ado Embodies Her Self-Written “Vivarium” In First Live-Action Music Video

A Powerful Visual Narrative Featuring Over 300 Shots

“Vivarium” Available Now Worldwide

(March 2nd- New York, NY) Internationally acclaimed powerhouse Ado releases her first-ever live-action music video for the self-written new song “Vivarium,” available now worldwide. The release arrives as she celebrates five years since her explosive major-label debut “Usseewa”  first shook the music scene and launched her into global stardom.

Directed by Kyotaro Hayashi and produced by Mizuki Ohno (ACROBAT FILM), the “Vivarium” music video marks Ado’s first appearance in a live-action production. Composed of approximately 300 meticulously crafted shots, the video weaves together the song’s emotional intensity and lyrical themes into a striking visual narrative. It reflects the unwavering spirit Ado has maintained both as an artist and as an individual, intertwining memories of past struggles, an indomitable will, and hope for the future.

“This is my first live-action music video and since I'm actually appearing in it myself, I think it's incredibly compelling to watch…,” stated Ado on “Vivarium.” “There are quite a few bold scenes scattered throughout, so fans might find themselves a bit confused... (laugh) I also played the underwater scenes myself, so I, personally, really want you to watch those closely (I got soaked). Also, the running scene—I find my desperate look kind of funny... but running in heels was actually really tough... (laughs).” Ado adds “In any case, I truly believe that both the song “Vivarium” and the novel “Vivarium: Ado and Me” have become incredibly important works for me and no matter the form, it is me. Please check it out!”

“Vivarium” draws inspiration from the newly released autobiographical nonfiction novel Vivarium: Ado and Me (currently available in Japanese only). Written by bestselling author Narumi Komatsu, the book was crafted over three years of in-depth interviews with Ado. It traces her journey from childhood and her struggles with school refusal, to discovering music as salvation, meeting Takuya Chigira (President and CEO of Cloud Nine), and ultimately giving birth to “Ado” as an artist, culminating in her rise to the global stage and world tours.

The song itself, written and composed by Ado and arranged by her bandmaster and guitarist Takafumi “CO-K” Kokei, transforms her inner conflict, grappling with self-denial while searching for light into a powerful vocal rock anthem.

The title “Vivarium” refers to an enclosed space designed to recreate a natural living environment, a symbolic nod to the closet where Ado recorded her vocals prior to her debut, a space that both confined and nurtured her artistry.

Recently, Ado announced her live Blu-ray/DVD documenting her second world tour, Ado WORLD TOUR 2025 “Hibana” Powered by Crunchyroll, out March 25.
