Alex Woodard Announces Second Book And Album In 'For The Sender' Series

“One of the greatest writers I've ever come across... 'For The Sender' is an inspiring, life-changing, and thought-provoking work.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer

‘For the Sender: Love Is (Not a Feeling)’ is the second installment in author and musician Alex Woodard’s beautifully written, heartwarming series of letters, songs, and the real-life stories that inspired them. Out February 25th on Hay House, this new 'For The Sender' title takes readers on an emotional journey, as Woodard interweaves a disarmingly honest portrayal of his own triumphs and struggles with those of five others, whose letters and stories of 'love as an action' inspired thirteen songs.

From Scarlett Lewis, whose six year old son was gunned down at Sandy Hook in Newtown, Connecticut, moments after he’d saved a group of his young classmates; to a woman working at a therapeutic equestrian center, who witnessed an unbelievable encounter between a special horse and an autistic boy; and a man who loses his best friend to ALS but is forever inspired by his grace and dignity. These are the stories of ordinary people living extraordinary lives, finding comfort, courage and purpose through the everyday actions of love. Also featured are letters from Loren Nancarrow, a legendary San Diego broadcaster who was producing a story on Woodard and ‘For The Sender’ until he lost his battle with brain cancer; and a heartfelt letter from Serena Dyer to her father, New York Times bestselling author and leading spiritual teacher, Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Set against Woodard’s own story of discovery after changing course from a decade spent as a country artist, the book explores the many messages we receive daily about the most powerful of human experiences: love. Woodard challenges mainstream media, the self-help establishment, listeners, and the reader to re-examine what really matters: what we actually do, for ourselves and each other. “I put (Not a Feeling) in parentheses,” Woodard says, “because I really wanted to suggest that love is in the doing. We can find some kind of daily resurrection born in the small things we do for each other, and the beauty found in service can come back to us ten-fold if we just get out of our own way and let it happen.”

Woodard has once again assembled an acclaimed lineup of musicians to score the thirteen songs with him on the ‘For The Sender’ album. New Found Glory frontman Jordan Pundik, renowned songwriter Jack Tempchin (The Eagles, Emmylou Harris, Glen Campbell), keyboardist Rami Jaffee (The Wallflowers, Foo Fighters) and singer-songwriter Molly Jenson, join Woodard to bring the letters to life.

Alex Woodard and ‘For The Sender’ will be featured in Dr. Wayne Dyer’s 2014 PBS special and will appear on stages nationwide this spring.
