March 5, 2024: Boston-based bilingual singer-songwriter Alisa Amador has announced her debut album Multitudes, set for release on June 7, 2024 via Thirty Tigers. Known for her “powerful voice whose tender performance commands attention and fosters connection” (NPR), Amador made history with the first-ever Spanish language song to win the Tiny Desk Contest. Now, she emerges with her full-length debut, co-produced by multi-Grammy nominee Tyler Chester and Daniel Radin and featuring recent Grammy Award winners Gaby Moreno and Madison Cunningham, and Quinn Christopherson. The 12-song collection effortlessly moves between English and Spanish over top of lush synthesizers, dreamy guitars and cinematic string arrangements. Multitudes is fierce, raw, and vulnerable, laced with the hope and resilience of a young woman learning to find her voice and stand her ground.
The first offering from the album, “I Need To Believe”, is out today, featuring fellow NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Quinn Christopherson. The track, written by Amador, details the time when she considered walking away from her music career all together. She explains, “I felt like no one cared about my songs, and I had nothing left to give.” Just weeks later she received a call from NPR’s Bob Boilen with the news that she had won the 2022 Tiny Desk Contest, a prestigious honor that took her career to new heights and ultimately led to the making of Multitudes. It was a life-changing curveball that Amador calls “an intervention from the universe… winning the Tiny Desk Contest felt like something was telling me to surrender to the reality that music is and always would be my purpose.”

Multitudes is a bold, captivating self-portrait, that serves not only as a testament to how far Amador has come (she’s earned dates with everyone from Hozier and Brandi Carlile to Lake Street Dive and Maggie Rogers), but also as a celebration of where she comes from (her roots span Puerto Rico, New Mexico, Argentina, and New England). It’s a fierce work of discovery and affirmation, exploring a multitude of emotions - triumph and loss, grief and gratitude, endings and beginnings, identity and belonging.
“The word ‘Multitudes’ is a cognate, meaning that it’s spelled identically and has the same meaning in both Spanish and English,” Amador explains. “It took a long time to find a title because I didn’t feel like any one word could contain all the emotions, all the ambiguities, all the searching in this record. When I landed on Multitudes, I knew I’d found what I was looking for.”
Amador will perform across the US throughout 2024. Announced dates include performances at SXSW and an intimate show at Berlin NYC in Manhattan. Stay tuned for additional dates coming soon and visit https://alisaamador.com/.
