Americana-Rock Duo Marfa Dials Into Memory Lane On “If It Ain’t You”

Today (3.27), Marfa, the Americana-rock duo forged in Colorado and raised on Texas roots, dials into a sickly sweet memory lane with “If It Ain’t You,” out now via Ascend Music / Big Machine Records. Produced by and co-written with Andrew DeRoberts (Brothers Osborne, Beyoncé), alongside Marfa’s Bryce Menchaca and Kellen Wall, the new track glows with warm ’70s-inspired sonics, inviting listeners on a walk down memory lane through moments that make love feel like home: a morning cup of coffee, a slow drive together, or a song that brings you back to your first kiss. Soaked in dazed harmonies, cinematic melodies, and a memorable hook, it traces the outline of a love that hasn’t faded.

“‘If It Ain’t You’ started as a last-minute spark, written in about twenty minutes the night before a session, but it quickly turned into something that felt timeless,” said Menchaca and Wall. “Inspired by the warmth of ‘70s ballads, from the storytelling of Glen Campbell to classic soul influences, we set out to capture that kind of enduring, emotional pull. There’s a simplicity on the surface, but underneath it’s built on rich, intricate chord changes that give it depth. It’s the kind of song we hope people fall in love to and maybe even one they walk down the aisle to.”
