Americana Unveils First Wave Of Performers For Honors & Awards

RIAA's Cary Sherman Delivers Conference Keynote. David Lowery To Add Artist Perspective on Legislative Debate

Stephen Stills, Ken Burns, Dr. John, 2013 nominees Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, plus multi-nominee duo Shovels and Rope, make up the first wave of performers and presenters set for the Americana Music Association's Honors & Awards show, Wed., Sept. 18 at Nashville's famed Ryman Auditorium. (More performers to be announced soon.)

The Americana Honors & Awards show kicks off five days of the most comprehensive music business conference and festival highlighting, what The New York Times calls "the coolest music scene today."

This year, Americana's conference welcomes RIAA chairman Cary Sherman as keynote speaker, features David Lowery (Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker) offering insights from the artist's perspective on timely legislative issues debated today and hosts the American Bar Association's Symposium on Entertainment.

The conference, headquartered out of the Sheraton Nashville Downtown hotel, will also feature artist interviews with the likes of Billy Bragg (led by Rob Reinhart of "Acoustic Café"), Rosanne Cash (conversing with Bob Harris of the BBC), Dr. John (with Nick Spitzer of NPR's "American Routes") and Delbert McClinton and Glen Clark (conducted by Jim Fusilli of the Wall Street Journal).

Merge that with a lineup of showcasing artists more than 120 strong -- featuring notables such as Ashley Monroe, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, North Mississippi Allstars, Houndmouth, Lisa Marie Presley, Steep Canyon Rangers, Justin Townes Earle, Bobby Rush and JD McPherson -- and you have the biggest week in the event's 14-year history.
