‘AN EVENING WITH LUCIA MICARELLI,’ a live concert film about the young violinist and vocalist which also tells the inspiring story of how she recovered from a near career-ending injury, premiered in over 100 U.S. markets during March on PBS, reaching an audience of millions. The special aired more than 400 times on 150 PBS stations across the country during a three-week period, with a number of major markets scheduling repeat broadcasts, including WNET in New York, PBS SoCal in Los Angeles and WTTW in Chicago.
Micarelli also completed a nine-city tour, where she appeared live in-studio at select PBS stations to discuss the program during its broadcasts. Based on audience response and the success of the March premieres, a number of PBS stations have added broadcasts in June, with additional in-studio visits to be announced.
In addition to her PBS special, Micarelli has an upcoming U.S. fall headlining tour that continues to grow, with new shows to be announced in the coming weeks. She will tour with her full ensemble, which includes cello, bass, piano, viola and second violin.
“Lucia absolutely enchanted KQED’s viewers and phone volunteers when she joined us live in-studio in March. She’s a remarkable talent,” said Kurt Mendelsohn, KQED San Francisco. “We distributed 300 tickets to her Bay Area concert, a near sell-out of our allotment. We’re super happy with the results.”
“Our station is very glad that we added the Lucia Micarelli program to our schedule,” said Beth Murnane, WTTW Chicago. “Lucia was a delight in the studio…her on-air presence helped viewers connect even more to the show.”
“A great addition to our fundraising program line-up. Our audience has shown their suppprt with donations for this inspiring musical talent and are eager to see her perform live in concert in the New York metropolitan area,” says Mark Cataldo, WNET / New York City.
AN EVENING WITH LUCIA MICARELLI was filmed in 2017 in Santa Barbara, California. The DVD and live CD featuring the music in the PBS special will be released widely this fall by Arts Music, a Warner Music Group Company. Micarelli is also working on a studio album.
