Today, Acoustic Sounds APO Records (Analogue Productions Originals) - it’s label for new and unreleased recordings - proudly announces the forthcoming release of two of Louisiana’s most legendary fiddlers, the late Courtney Granger and Cedric Watson. A never-before-heard project that shines a light on the deep musical kinship between Cajun and Creole traditions, this collaboration is as natural as it is historic—echoing a legacy of musicians who, despite social divisions, found harmony in shared artistry and respect. Recorded at Dockside Studio, Maurice, Louisiana, produced by Yvette Landry, a Grammy-Nominated Musician, Storyteller, Educator, and Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductee, mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab, and pressed at Acoustic Sounds' industry-leading pressing plant Quality Record Pressings (QRP)Cajun & Creole Music Of Louisiana will arrive on 180-gram 45 RPM vinyl as a double LP on October 10th, 2025.

With this project, Courtney Granger and Cedric Watson carry forward the cross-cultural collaboration that has always been central to Louisiana’s musical story. Granger, born into the legendary Balfa family and raised in Eunice “breathing Cajun music like the rest of us breathe air,” and Watson, a Texas native who devoted his life to becoming “a living encyclopedia of Creole sound,” approached their traditions from different paths. Yet together, they created a collection of stripped-down, intimate performances that, in the words of folklorist Barry Jean Ancelet, reveal “pure, raw emotion and musical virtuosity… You'll hear the love, the respect, the shared roots in every note.”

This project was the particular dream of Acoustic Sounds/Analogue Productions’s CEO and founder Chad Kassem, a proud Louisiana native who has made it his mission to preserve the state’s musical heritage with uncompromising detail and fidelity. Having first heard Granger perform at just 15 years old, he knew he had to get him in the studio with a fellow musical master, and Watson was the natural choice. Tragically, this record would be among Courtney Granger’s last, passing away in 2021 at only 39, just after finishing the recording sessions that would go on to create Cajun & Creole Music Of Louisiana. This profound loss only reinforces this album’s significance as a vital document of Louisiana’s cultural legacy, and one that underscores the importance of Kassem’s mission to safeguard and elevate Louisiana’s music for generations to come.

Cajun & Creole Music of Louisiana is more than an album—it’s a conversation between two masters, a duet where every bow stroke and fingered note shares a history, weaving in unison and counterpoint, bending, swaying, and soaring like the Louisiana landscape itself. This record is both a testament to the enduring power of Louisiana’s musical traditions and a love letter to the heartbeat of Cajun and Creole music—the artists and everyday people who keep it alive.
