Arthur’s Tavern Renovates and Reopens Historic Location

Arthur’s Tavern, one of the oldest jazz clubs in NYC, has announced that they are reopening their doors today.

“After a long struggle that affected the city as a whole, we are proud that Arthur’s Tavern will continue to host live jazz and blues as we did before the coronavirus,” said Tsion Bensusan of the Blue Note Entertainment Group. “We strive to not become a victim of the changing times like many others have and allow our patrons to enjoy a piece of Old New York.”

Known as “The Home of the Bird” because of its connection to legendary jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker, Arthur’s Tavern first opened its doors in 1937. Notable long term residencies over the years included Mabel Godwin, Al Bundy, Johnny Parker and  the longest running gig in New York City, the Grove Street Stompers. Over the years Arthurs has hosted performances and jam sessions by some of the biggest names in Jazz. The late Roy Hargrove was a regular.

With this reopening, Arthur’s Tavern has received a facelift inside and out that still maintains the venue’s vintage charm. In addition, there will be new and returning acts performing every night with no cover charge along with an updated menu containing classic spirits, wine, beer and unique cocktails.
