Tuesday, October 1, 2024 - ATO Records’ Brigitte Calls Me Baby is continuing their streak as “one of the biggest standouts in the new rock league” (Chicago Sun-Times), following the band’s rousing performance of “Too Easy” on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The appearance arrives after the release of the band’s debut LP, The Future Is Our Way Out, earlier this summer, lauded by critics as “a debut album that may just rival the classics” (Clash Magazine), showcasing their unique sound that has allowed them to “carve out a triumph of their own” (NME). In lead singer Wes Leavins' words, "It's all about drama and power, both in the instrumentation and the vocal approach."
Along the way they’ve been making fans of nearly every major Chicago publication including the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, and Chicago Sun-Times who writes that they have “...taken the local scene by storm in recent months, leading the pack of a new era of homegrown rock bands that are steadily gaining national attention."
Following last year's release of their debut EP, This House Is Made of Corners, Brigitte Calls Me Baby has continued to gain momentum on the national TV front. Earlier this year, the band made their national TV debut on CBS Saturday, followed by their late-night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Livelast month. Watch their CBS Saturday performance of "The Future Is Our Way Out" HERE and their Jimmy Kimmel Live performance of "We Were Never Alive" HERE.
Earlier this year, the band made their Lollapalooza festival debut in their hometown Chicago, the band’s largest show in the city to date following two sold-out nights at Lincoln Hall this summer, and a sold-out play at Schubas Tavern in March.
The band is currently on tour with shows coming up in Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more, including dates with the Airborne Toxic Event. Full tour routing listed below.
ABOUT BRIGITTE CALLS ME BABY
With their name nodding to frontman Wes Leavins’ teenage pen-pal correspondence with iconic French actress Brigitte Bardot, the Chicago-based five-piece emerged in early 2023 and soon scored a breakout hit with “Impressively Average”—a sublimely shimmering anthem that shot to the Top 10 at Triple A radio, setting the band on a swift rise that’s recently included embarking on a headline tour with sold-out dates across the country. Now, with their debut LP, The Future Is Our Way Out, Brigitte Calls Me Baby share a body of work that ingeniously spans genres and eras, merging the lavish romanticism of mid-century pop with the frenetic energy and spiky intensity of early-millennium indie-rock. Centered on Leavins’ hypnotically crooning vocal work, the result is a rare convergence of sophistication, style, and unabashed sincerity.
The band’s unusual path began when frontman and songwriter Wes Leavins moved from Texas to Chicago after high school. After arriving in Chicago, he joined forces with bassist Devin Wessels, drummer Jeremy Benshish, and guitarists Jack Fluegel and David Rosendahl; and the group began gigging locally when Graceland came calling. Leavins was recruited to record music for Baz Luhrmann's 2022 film Elvis. While on set, he met the Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile) and the two hit it off.
