Audible and Fresh Produce Media’s Psychological Thriller 'I Think You’re Projecting,' Starring Adepero Oduye, To Premiere April 13

Fresh Produce Media, the audio-first entertainment company, will launch its next Audible Original podcast, the erotic psychological thriller audio series I Think You’re Projecting, this Thursday, April 13th.

Adepero Oduye, whose credits include Twelve Years a Slave and a breakout performance starring in Dee Rees’ Pariah, leads the project as a couple’s therapist, Dr. Rae Pelletier, whose world-renowned reputation becomes threatened as she falls in love with a patient.

Written by The New Yorker’s Cora Frazier and co-created by Fresh Produce Media’s Julian Ambler, the seven-part narrative series follows Dr. Pelletier and her clients through a world where fantasy and reality are always engaged in a dangerous dance, and the stakes couldn’t be higher - crime, death, and the simultaneous unravelings of professional boundaries, once-solid relationships, and psyche. For its portrayal of the dynamics of a polyamorous relationship, Fresh Produce brought in intimacy coordinator Teniece Divya Johnson.

Beginning with a police questioning of a hit-and-run, I Think You’re Projecting follows Arden and Bodhi, a wife and husband; Colt, one of Arden’s partners; and Dr. Pelletier - while they navigate the thorny issues of their ethical non-monogamy, as well as those of criminal and medical ethics. As the group’s therapy sessions progress and grow more intense, all of them will need to reconsider their deepest-held convictions, and at least one person will wind up dead.

Through its cleverly-crafted plot and immersive, anxiety-inducing sound design and atmosphere (the series only uses diegetic audio sources - therapy sessions, phone calls, home recordings, Dr. Pelletier’s notes, police questionings), I Think You’re Projecting maneuvers various points-of-views to truly bring listeners into the dark, knotty complexity of crossing the line, as Dr. Pelletier risks everything to indulge her desire for Arden.
