“AYLØ is the Rapping & Singing Extraordinaire Making Nigeria Proud”
– Ones To Watch
Today, AYLØ, a rising star in Nigeria’s alté scene, releases his latest EP ‘Clairsentience.’ The project, out now on Soulection Records, fuses the distinct sounds of Western Africa that include alternative R&B, neo soul, hip hop and afropop. AYLØ also releases new song “Closure” with a dreamy live video.
"'Clairsentience' came from a place where I'd been in contact with people who were clairvoyant or clairaudient, etc. and in turn I started to understand what it meant to be a sentient being,” says AYLØ. “We all are in a way, some more than others. But then with that in mind tapping into the process, this was the first project I was able to make each track one after the other in quick succession, the same location and with the fewest producers necessary. It took a longer time to finish, but the inception was like a divine gift—as all my music really is—before being an avenue for therapy and a way to share love and vibrations through sound.”
On “Closure,” AYLØ shows off his musical agility, effortlessly switching between heartfelt vocals and clever raps. AYLØ’s Nigerian influences come through in the hip-swaying rhythm and his experimental alternative style. The video is a remarkable rendition that takes audiences back to days of intimate live shows. Purple lights create an incandescent halo around AYLØ, who flaunts his delightful showmanship and adaptability around any beat.
Earlier this year, AYLØ released the single “Romantic,” which OkayAfrica lauded as a “meditative affair” and Culture Custodian described as a “welcome sound diversion that still banks on [AYLØ’s] desire for sonic perfection.” With a gliding melody that cuts through delicate percussion, the song is a touching ode to love. In another lush live performance, the “Romantic” video features the singer’s magnetic stage presence, A1 fashion sense and undeniable groove.

Here’s AYLØ on the song: "Romantic asks you to remember to turn the outside off every now and then and tend to what you need on the inside. Self care. Acceptance as well. Love.”
