Today, Apple Music exclusively premieres and streams a new short documentary on GRAMMY Award winning artist Raphael Saadiq — ‘Behind Raphael Saadiq’s Jimmy Lee’ – that provides an intimate look behind his “masterpiece” (Rolling Stone) of a new album. The documentary film features testimonies from Saadiq’s family and collaborators as well as never-before-heard stories from the “R&B titan” (Vanity Fair) about the album’s “exorcism of family tragedy and trauma, personified in blood, bone and blues” (NPR).

Praise for Raphael Saadiq and Jimmy Lee:

"As a solo artist, Saadiq has long been a master without a masterpiece for consensus to point to. Jimmy Lee could change that through sonic ambition alone.” – THE NEW YORK TIMES

“A novelistic song cycle that seems at once intensely private, broadly political, and undeniably funky.” — THE NEW YORKER

“His wildest, most ambitious and unforgettable album so far” – NPR ALL SONGS CONSIDERED

“His best album yet…impeccable production textures and an impressively varied sonic palette.” – FADER

“Dark, dazzling…it’s a masterpiece of an LP.” — ROLLING STONE

"A stirring album...his ability to connect the personal with the universal turns Jimmy Lee into a career milestone and places it notches above the rest of the field." – AP

“An exorcism of family tragedy and trauma, personified in blood, bone and blues. Saadiq lights up the darkness by revealing his own. He's never sounded brighter.” — NPR Music

"An R&B Titan." – VANITY FAIR

"Intensely personal." – BILLBOARD

“An uplifting and universal take for anyone who’s experienced life with a troubled loved one.” – VARIETY
