Bhi Bhiman’s “Soul Dance Party” (KQED) + New Song Via Utne Reader

Bhi Bhiman may compare the 7 deadly sins to breakfast foods, but at the heart of his new song "Bread and Butter," he's paying homage to the working class. He chats with the Utne Reader about finding inspiration in the hardest working people he knows - America's immigrants. Listen to the song and read his Q&A here.

Raised in a Sri Lankan immigrant family, Bhiman infuses his new album 'Rhythm & Reason' (out 5/19, BooCoo Records/Thirty Tigers) with an outsider perspective, with songs told from the POV of Black Panther Huey Newton ("Up in Arms") and African expats in Belgium ("Moving to Brussels"). Bhiman is currently on tour with Rhiannon Giddens, and KQED's The Do List raves the "blues-infused folk rockers start a soul dance party."
