Brian May Praises Virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro's "Exquisite" Ukulele Playing


Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, who has been lauded by the New York Times, NPR, and Time Magazine, has now received high praise from legendary guitarist Brian May of Queen. Of Shimabukuro's awe-inspiring, solo ukulele version of "Bohemian Rhapsody," May says it is "amazing uke playing to be relished" and that "it really is exquisite."

A 34-year-old Hawaii native, Shimabukuro's recently released 'Peace Love Ukulele' (Hitchhike Records) which debuted at #1 on the Billboard World Albums chart and includes his take on "Bohemian Rhapsody." Shimabukuro himself said that recording the epic, twisting anthem was a challenge to tackle "considering the ukulele only has four strings and two octaves," but he pulls it off in stunning fashion. The NY Times raved that Jake possesses "buoyant musicianship and brisk proficiency."
