Watch the Video in a PAPER Magazine Profile
Today, with the announcement of his first headline tour, Briston Maroney releases his music video for "Fool's Gold." The piece marks the seventh installment in a series with filmmaker Joey Brodnax, which builds a world around Maroney's new Indiana EP.
To see Briston Maroney dance through a flower shop struck by supernatural forces and customers seeking flour, watch "Fool's Gold" in PAPER Magazine's new profile of the 21-year-old HERE.
On working with Maroney, director Joey Brodnax says, "The conversations the two of us had while building out concepts felt less like pre-production meetings and more like therapy."
"'Fool's Gold' was one of the first songs I wrote when I moved back to Nashville," adds Maroney. "It was the first time I realized that I had built up moving back to Nashville in my mind and it ended up not being what I expected. The video is me humbly admitting that I was a jackass for expecting things to go the way I wanted them to."
In the middle of a year that started with living room performances, before sharing stages with Liz Cooper and Wallows, Briston Maroney has also announced an international run of headline tour dates. Along with sets at Austin City Limits and Pitchfork Paris, Maroney and his band will cross both coasts of the US, hitting the UK and Europe in between. Find full dates below, on-sale here this Friday, June 21st.
Check out "Fool's Gold" live on World Cafe and KUTX.
