Caamp Celebrates Growth And Evolution On Copper Changes Color

Currently on 2025 US Tour with sold-out stops at NYC’s Radio City Music Hall (2 nights), DC’s The Anthem, Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater and more

Today (6.6), Caamp shares their fifth studio album, Copper Changes Color, via Mom+Pop Music. The album – which Garden & Gun praises for its “Strokes-like strut, all clanging electric guitars at a punchy clip” while still nailing “the sweet spot of Caamp’s trademark folk and delicate banjo beneath Meier’s distinctive baritone” – is both a reflection on growth and evolution and a celebration of the dreams and bonds that endure.

Born after a period of rest and healing that found Caamp's frontman and co-founder Taylor Meier splitting his time between his hometown of Columbus, OH, and NYC, the 11-track album is the band's most adventurous to date. Written, performed, and produced by the band and recorded in studios across the US (including Texas’ Sonic Ranch, New York’s Sear Sound, and Oregon’s Flora Recording), they tapped their longtime GRAMMY-winning collaborator Beatriz Artola (Fleet Foxes, Sharon Van Etten) and new collaborator Tucker Martine (Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, R.E.M) for recording and co-production.

From the punchy opening track which shifts from sunny garage rock to muscular Americana (“Millions”) to ruminations on self-doubt and serenity (“One True Way” feat. Madi Diaz, “Fairview Feeling”), the collection finds the breakout Midwestern band pushing their sound to new heights with fearless vulnerability. Meier lays bare the beauty of imperfection on “Mistakes,” while exploring steadfast affection (“Porchswing”), quiet loyalty (“Shade”), and long-distance devotion (“Waiting Up (For You)”), all capped by the playful, tongue-in-cheek charm of “Ohio’s Ugly.”

The band recently celebrated their fourth No. 1 single on AAA and Americana radio with “Let Things Go.” Caamp also wrote and recorded “And It’s Gone” as the main title theme for Stick, the just-released AppleTV+ original sports comedy starring and executive produced by Owen Wilson.

Last week, Caamp kicked off their 2025 US Tour with sold-out shows in Austin, St. Louis, and Chicago, and will play a second sold-out night at Chicago’s Salt Shed tonight for a special album release show. The band will continue their 30+ date run with shows in New York City (sold out), Washington DC (first night sold out), Los Angeles, Nashville (sold out) and more. Plus, this week they announced their 2025 UK & Europe Tour, which will see the band hit 11 markets starting October 13 in Madrid, Spain.

Today, Caamp is inviting fans in 70+ cities across the country for a special indie record listening event that includes giveaways, limited edition merchandise and more. Learn more here. As part of their album release celebration, the band is also hosting special activations around tonight’s Chicago show at The Salt Shed, including a "Lunch Break Banjo Session” with Evan Westfall confirmed at Loud Pizza, a Seager pop-up with 2 exclusive designs, plus a Caamp merch warehouse sale at the venue.

Founded in Athens, OH, Caamp – which consists of Meier alongside multi-instrumentalist co-founder Evan Westfall, Matt Vinson (bass), Joseph Kavalec (keys) and Nicholas Falk (drums) – rocketed to early acclaim with their self-titled 2016 debut, which garnered the band their first gold single. Since then, the group has racked up more than 2.5 billion streams; topped the Billboard Heatseekers chart; topped the Americana Albums chart, sold out multiple nights from Red Rocks to Radio City; headlined Columbus’ Nationwide Arena; received praise from the likes of NPR, Relix, SPIN and more; and performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and CBS Saturday Morning.
