Today, Chaos Chaos — the sister synthpop duo whose "powerful feminist consciousness" (Uproxx) and "profound lyrics with a lighthearted, danceable sound" (Billboard) have garnered over 40 million streams on Spotify — return with the whirring art-disco meditation “Armed And Dangerous.” The new single is their first new music since last year’s self-titled album Chaos Chaos, and is accompanied by a series of bi-coastal tour dates, including shows in Los Angeles and Brooklyn — full tour below.

A rumination on the armor we wear in love to cope with vulnerability, “Armed And Dangerous” came about while Asya and Chloe Saavedra were staying in the desert. Says Asya: “At the time I was reading ‘The Art Of War’ and a sort of cheesy book on mindfulness. The two reminded me of these inevitable polar opposites in life, but I wanted to combine them — zen and war, peace and chaos. The song is about relinquishing control and removing armor, and the new way the world looks after doing this.”

Chaos Chaos are Asya and Chloe Saavedra, the "prodigious" (Interview) sister duo behind not only their own infectious music but also hit songs from the soundtrack for acclaimed sci-fi cartoon “Rick And Morty.” Growing up, their first band Smoosh — which they founded together as teenagers as they split time between Seattle, Sweden and New York — performed with the likes of Pearl Jam, Death Cab For Cutie, and Sleater Kinney. In the time between Smoosh and Chaos Chaos, the duo have expanded their horizons: Asya scored the music for the video game Trover Saves The Universe (out May 31), and Chloe has toured with Lee Ranaldo and performed on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Chaos Chaos are preparing to release more new music later this year — keep an eye out for news.
