Chordal, a leading innovator in music rights technology, today announces the launch of InstantClear™, a pre-cleared music licensing system designed to help the commercial music industry scale to meet the demands of modern content production. Built on patent-pending technology, InstantClear™ acts as a legal, financial, and creative bridge that can quickly pull together licenses for fractionally owned songs. It delivers pre-cleared catalogs for buyers at the click of a button, and can feasibly open up a one-stop licensing experience for the world’s music supply.

InstantClear™ separates itself from the competition with its fractional pre-clearance system, which enables co-rights holders of commercially released songs to rapidly approve their individual shares for a specific buyer or use-case in advance, rather than handling licensing reactively at the last minute. Secondly, it supports automated, custom legal agreements and streamlined payments, which keeps rights holders in full control over their rights on a per-project, per-client basis. Lastly, the system also does not require rights holders to pre-assign algorithmic pricing to their songs, which has historically been prohibitive. InstantClear™ reduces legal bottlenecks and accelerates payments for the rights holder, while simultaneously eliminating negotiation delays and simplifying the process for brands, studios, and content creators to be able to license commercial music at scale.

Chordal has spent six years developing its platform, and over the past two years has actively served clients across the music industry. Now, with hundreds of rights holders using its existing rights management technology, Chordal is expanding its suite of tools with InstantClear™ to help labels, publishers, and estates make licensing legally cleared commercial music more accessible than ever.

“With InstantClear™, we’re giving rights holders more control while unlocking new opportunities for music licensing at scale,” said Grayson Sanders, CEO of Chordal. “For years, we’ve been building the infrastructure for a more efficient, transparent licensing process, and over the past two years, we’ve seen firsthand how much demand there is for a better solution. This next step ensures that both the music industry and content creators have a smarter, faster way to connect—without the friction that has traditionally slowed down licensing.”

A Smarter, Faster, and More Transparent Licensing Solution

InstantClear™ addresses critical challenges in the $187.5 billion digital content market by doing the following:

  • Eliminating tedious late-stage negotiations through a fractional pre-clearance system, ensuring all of a song’s stakeholders legally approve licenses before music is made available to the buyer.
  • Reducing contract bottlenecks for both rights holders and buyers with an automated legal module, enabling customized agreements across multiple parties in seconds.
  • Streamlining payments and royalties, consolidating complex invoices into a single, automated transaction for rights holders.

For music supervisors, filmmakers, advertisers, game developers, and digital creators, InstantClear™ ensures a seamless, one-stop licensing experience—eliminating the delays and unpredictability that have historically complicated the process. Now, securing commercially released music for a broad range of licensing applications is faster than ever.
