Fast-rising country artist Cole Goodwin puts a vintage stamp on modern country music with Howdy, his new EP out today (6.26) via Big Machine Records. Marked with equal parts grit and charm and packed with small-town romance, honky-tonk swagger and his heart-on-your-sleeve storytelling that has earned praise as “country music done right” (Country Central)Howdy features four tracks that capture the many stages of love.

"The Howdy EP is a collection of a few of my favorite songs I have recorded yet," said Goodwin. "Each of these songs means something to me, and I hope everybody can connect to them as well now that they are out in the world."

From the playful, honky-tonk infused pickup-line swagger of "Howdy," which went to country radio on June 22 with 56 first week adds, and the sweet, small-town romance of “Girl That’s How” to barn-burning prayer for love to stay on “Keep On Rainin’” and the slow-burning heartbreak ballad “Where She’s Coming From,” Goodwin showcases both humor and emotional depth. Each song is clearly rooted in classic country influences, yet offers a fresh perspective with Goodwin’s vivid narration and authentic songwriting.

Produced by Ryan Youmans (Hudson Westbrook, Muscadine Bloodline, Tyler Halverson), the project is driven by Goodwin’s vivid narration and authentic songwriting. Raised in Pooler, GA, Goodwin grew up watching his mother perform and studying the genre greats who built classic country music’s backbone – from Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard to Hank Williams Jr. On Howdy, he carries that spirit forward.

The EP’s focus track, “Keep On Rainin’,” which features 2025 GRAMMY Songwriter Of The Year Jessi Alexander’s background vocals, displays an irresistible combination of virtuosic, lightning fast fingerpicking, high-lonesome vocals and 80s-style bluegrass-tinged country tones. With a wink and a prayer, Goodwin begs for the rain to continue pouring down outside, hoping the bad weather keeps his lover by his side.
