LOS ANGELES, CA – Comedy Dynamics has announced that they’re releasing Brian Aylward: Big In Asia, and will release it through their hybrid distribution system composed of Comcast, Amazon Prime Video, Spectrum, Apple TV, Dish, Google Play, DirecTV, Vimeo, YouTube and many more on November 10, 2020. The album will be available on Sirius XM, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora and more on November 13, 2020. The special was filmed live in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and is the first special from Aylward, who is the former Canadian Comedy Award winner for Best Stand-Up Comic.
A Newfoundland native with the gift of gab, Brian shares a huge sack of hilarious stories from his adventures throughout Asia. It’s all original, brilliantly observational comedy that bridges the cultural gap. Expect the unexpected from one of stand-up comedy’s new breakout stars.
Over the past 15 years, Brian has performed more than 3000 shows in 28 countries. In 2018 & 2019, Brian headlined Best Kind Comedy Tour, playing to sold-out theatre shows across Canada. In February 2017, Aylward's solo show Big In Asia was nominated for Best Comedy at Fringe World in Perth, Australia. In 2014, Aylward set the unofficial Comedy World Record, performing twenty-one different 10 minute sets in one day at the Haebangchon Festival in Seoul, South Korea.
Based on a bet made back in 2005, Newfoundland native Brian Aylward stepped on stage for the first time at a rowdy expatriate bar in Anyang, South Korea. Aylward went on to pioneer the English stand-up comedy scene in South Korea, officially establishing Stand Up Seoul in 2009, and turning the country into a legitimate destination on the international comedy circuit.
Aylward has performed hundreds of shows across Asia, including Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Cambodia, India, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Mongolia, Oman, Myanmar and more.
Upon returning to his native Canada in 2010, Brian went on to become the twice finalist in SiriusXM Radio’s Canada’s Top Comic (2011/2013), a national headliner with Canada’s Yuk Yuk’s comedy clubs, and he performed theatre tours across Newfoundland. Brian has performed at many festivals around the world, including Just For Laughs 42, Halifax Comedy Fest, Hong Kong International Comedy Festival and the Magners International Comedy Festival. He has also appeared several times on Canada’s hit CBC Radio show The Debaters.
The Korea Times called Aylward “One of Asia’s most influential stand-up comedians”.
“It’s an honor to be associated with Comedy Dynamics and I’m beyond excited about the worldwide release of my first stand-up special!” said Brian Aylward.
“Just being a stand-up comedian today is difficult, but being a comedian who can perform in a country on the other side of the world, when you don’t speak their native language, is incredibly difficult and awe-inspiring,” said Brian Volk-Weiss, Founder and CEO of Comedy Dynamics.
