The album will be released January 31, 2020 through Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and more.
Maria Bamford is back and subjectively better than ever! Weakness is her brand, so get ready to feel much better about yourself. This dynamite lady explodes onstage (after two naps with her husband Scott and two old, pillowy dogs). Let her be the poor example from which your greatness can be determined.
She is the creator and star of Maria Bamford: The Special Special Special, one of Vulture’s Top 10 Stand-Up Specials of 2012, and of the cult hit web series The Maria Bamford Show, which screened at the Museum of Art and Design and was described as a “cold blast of brilliance” by The New Yorker. Her last special, Old Baby (produced by Comedy Dynamics for Netflix) was groundbreaking in its rearrangement of the structural norms of how we watch comedy. In reviewing the special, the AV Club said “Maria Bamford’s unique ability to meld angst, annoyance, joy, and giddy good will into an exhilarating, buoyant whole is a miracle of its own.”
Maria is the first female comic to have two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials and starred alongside Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis and Brian Posehn in the Comedy Central series The Comedians of Comedy and Netflix’s Comedians of Comedy: The Movie. Maria has contributed comedic voiceovers for such animations as Netflix’s Big Mouth and BoJack Horseman, Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, PBS’s Emmy-winning series Word Girl, and Nickelodeon’s Kung Fu Panda. Maria’s writing has been featured in The Onion, GQ and LA Weekly.
Maria Bamford: Weakness Is The Brand was directed by Robert Cohen and executive produced by Brian Volk-Weiss and Cisco Henson of Comedy Dynamics. Maria and her manager, Bruce Smith of Omnipop, also serve as executive producers.
“This is my finest, richest chunk of hot new bits. Enjoy with your favorite cool beverage and a nice piece of fudge!” said Maria Bamford.
“Maria is truly one of the most brilliant minds in comedy and it’s always an honor to work with someone that is so revered for their dedication to their craft, and jokes!” said Brian Volk-Weiss, CEO of Comedy Dynamics.
