(New York, NY): Today, Brooklyn native Cory Henry announced a pop-up show to take place at Blue Note, the iconic New York jazz club, this Saturday, August 19th.
The organ virtuoso will play a 75-minute set at midnight. Tickets are on-sale today starting at $25: http://www.bluenote.net/newyork/schedule/moreinfo.cgi?id=15829
Billed as "Revival at Midnight: A Night with the Chief Apostle," the evening will feature a captivating stripped-down performance by Cory Henry and drummer, TaRon Lockett as they blur genres of blues, soul, R&B, Afrobeat, gospel and jazz. Cory will perform 'The Revial' (2016, #2 on Billboard's Jazz Charts), which was a tribute to his first love, the Hammond organ, and a showcas for his exceptional talents on the instrument.
Cory may be best known for his role in Snarky Puppy, the instrumental jazz-pop orchestra hailed by Rolling Stone as "one of the most versatile groups of the planet right now." He's won three Grammy Awards for his work with the band since 2012. On his debut album with the ecclesiastically-titled Funk Apostles, 'Chapter 1: The Art of Love,' set for release this fall, Cory moves from sideman to frontman with seemingly effortless grace and cool.
Recently, The New York Times exclusively released their lead single "Trade It All," a vulnerable, honest account of the sacrifices Cory would make for a lover.
