Cory Henry released his anticipated solo album ‘Something To Say’ (STS). As his first body of work that he solely produced, the 11-song project is a reflection of his impressive musical mind and multi-instrumentalist mastery. The project is “right on time with this message to remind us all to not forget what we’re living and fighting for” (Essence).

STS is an artistic reflection of the current social and emotional climate we find ourselves in. On the focus track “No Guns,” Henry paints a picture of unity and hopes for a society rooted in understanding rather than petty differences. “I don’t need to punish the lawless, everyone’s got to bear their crosses,” Henry sings over his organ groove before launching into the song’s mantra: “I got no guns to stick by.”

Earlier this month Henry released “Don’t Forget”, his third single from the album, which has already seen early spins support from WFUV - New York, WXPN - Philadelphia, KCRW - Los Angeles, KUTX - Austin and many more. Last week he teamed up with platinum-selling R&B artist Marc E. Bassy on the track “Free Like Me,” which Out Now Magazine called “a deeply personal track with a positive message at its heart.” Henry also sat down with music critic Charlie Harding in an episode of Switched on Pop that explores Henry’s songwriting process and how the tumultuous political climate played a role in the album’s conception.

In celebration of the LP’s release, Henry and his band The Funk Apostles (Isaiah Sharkey, Guitar; TaRon Lockett, Percussion; Nick Semrad, Keyboard; Sharay Reed, Bass; Tiffany Stevenson, Vocals; Matia Washington, Vocals) will be performing a livestream show on Halloween—their first since March, when the pandemic forced them off the road. Mixed by legendary sound engineer Bob Clearmountain, whose previous work includes David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Chic, Kool & the Gang and many more, the show performance will be broadcast globally at 3pm PST / 6pm EST / 11pm BST / +7am JST/ +9am ACT. Tickets are available for $10 for a webcast ticket or $50 for a webcast ticket plus a one on one virtual meet and greet with Henry.

Above all, with ‘Something To Say,’ Henry made music to fulfill him, and he’s hoping to spread that message to the world. “I feel good because all of the songs came together and they mean something to me,” he humbly advises, “so I hope they mean something to other people.”

ABOUT CORY HENRY

Internationally renowned artist, composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and all-around keyboard master Cory Henry was born to be a musician. Picking up the organ at two and becoming a permanent fixture of his church’s choir by five, it wasn’t long before he was sharing the stage with the likes of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Quincy Jones and The Roots and winning a Grammy Award as a vital part of instrumental collective Snarky Puppy. Cory has made a name for himself as a vocalist, instrumentalist and writer for icons spanning generations, but his work at the helm of his own band Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles is what shot him into superstardom. Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles are known for consistently enchanting live performances, and their viral NPR Tiny Desk show is a testament to this. NPR’s All Things Considered raved that Henry “can glide through just about any song on the Hammond with the ease of someone taking the family car out for a Sunday drive.” With over 100 million aggregated Youtube views, the Brooklyn-born and LA-based “future soul” maestro’s far-reaching impact sets the stage for a promising return on ‘Something To Say.’
